Description

If Insurance is the leading insurance company in the Nordic region. In Business Area Industrial we provide tailored global insurance solutions to many of the largest companies in the Nordic countries. In Norway, Industrial has approximately 50 highly skilled employees across Sales, Risk Management, Underwriting and Underwriting Solutions.

As our current leader moves to a new role within If, we are looking for a Head of Employee Benefits Underwriting Industrial Norway. Employee Benefits insurance helps employers protect their employees against the financial consequences of injuries, illness and death, including business travel and assignments abroad.

About the role

Your ability to lead a strong, experienced team is vital to this role. You will have overall responsibility for the financial performance of the portfolio, which includes Workers’ Compensation, business travel and expatriate insurance, and death and disability cover for accidents and illness. This means that you and your team are assessing the risks involved, deciding what the insurance should cover and setting a price that reflects those risks. It combines analytical judgement with commercial understanding to balance customer needs with long-term profitability.

This is a hands-on leadership role, combining responsibility for the team with active involvement in underwriting and portfolio development. You will develop the technical expertise needed to assess risks and make underwriter decisions alongside your team. In close cooperation with other Industrial units and external brokers, you will establish compliant and efficient solutions and support profitable growth. You will also work with Nordic colleagues to identify opportunities for scale and further development.

Who are you?

You have leadership experience and a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree, ideally in economics or a related field. You enjoy developing people and creating an environment where your team can thrive and deliver strong results. Experience with Employee Benefits or underwriting will be an advantage.

You combine strong analytical skills with strategic thinking, commercial judgement and a focus on results. You build trusted relationships with colleagues and clients, work proactively and systematically, and act with integrity. You communicate fluently in Norwegian and English, both verbally and in writing.

About the team

You will lead a team of five highly skilled and engaged Underwriters and Underwriting Assistants. Reporting to the Nordic Head of Employee Benefits Underwriting, you will be a member of the Nordic management team.

You will also be an important part of the Norwegian country management group, sharing responsibility with other leaders for fostering a positive work environment, strengthening collaboration across the organization, maintaining a strong client focus and contributing to our good culture in Industrial Norway.
