Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) based in United States.

As Chief Financial Officer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy and driving sustainable growth for a growing, private equity-backed services business. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will join the executive leadership team and oversee finance, human resources and recruiting, and acquisitions. This is a strategic leadership opportunity focused on maximizing profitability, improving operational efficiency, and increasing enterprise value. You will lead financial planning and analysis, leverage AI-powered tools and automation, and translate business data into actionable insights. Working closely with operational leaders, you will help optimize labor costs, strengthen workforce management, and guide acquisition strategies and integration initiatives. The role offers significant autonomy, executive-level influence, and the opportunity to shape the next phase of growth in a fully remote environment.

Accountabilities

  • Partner with the CEO to develop and execute financial and business strategies that strengthen profitability, improve operational performance, and maximize enterprise value.

  • Lead and oversee three key functions: accounting, human resources and recruiting, and acquisitions, providing strategic direction, establishing objectives, and empowering department leaders to manage their respective teams.

  • Own financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and scenario modeling, leveraging AI tools such as Claude and automation to improve efficiency without expanding headcount.

  • Develop and oversee labor cost planning and reporting for a large hourly workforce, monitoring wage rates, scheduling efficiency, overtime, and workforce-related expenses.

  • Collaborate with HR leadership to strengthen workforce strategy, including recruitment, employee retention, compensation structures, and employment compliance.

  • Design and implement performance-based bonus and incentive structures aligned with measurable operational and financial objectives.

  • Oversee month-end financial closing, internal controls, accounting processes, and financial reporting through an established accounting leadership team.

  • Identify and implement cost-reduction initiatives, operational improvements, and efficiency opportunities in partnership with the operations leadership team.

  • Collaborate with the CEO on acquisition strategy, overseeing financial due diligence, transaction evaluation, deal execution support, and post-acquisition integration.

  • Manage cash flow, treasury activities, banking relationships, insurance, and broader financial risk management.

  • Prepare financial presentations and strategic updates for board meetings, maintaining effective relationships with private equity investors and lenders.

  • Actively contribute to executive leadership discussions, strategic planning, and company-wide decision-making.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal financial, tax, accounting, and employment reporting requirements.

  • Requirements:

    • 8–10 years of progressive experience in financial management and executive leadership, including experience as a CFO or senior finance leader.

    • Demonstrated experience in businesses with large hourly workforces, ideally within multi-unit restaurants, hospitality, retail, or service-based industries.

    • Proven track record of improving profitability, implementing cost-control measures, and driving sustainable business performance.

    • Previous experience working with private equity firms or managing financial operations within private equity-backed businesses.

    • Strong experience overseeing mergers and acquisitions, including small and mid-sized transactions, financial due diligence, and post-acquisition integration.

    • Experience overseeing human resources alongside finance or partnering closely with HR teams on workforce planning, recruitment, compensation, and employee retention.

    • Proven ability to lead and develop senior managers and department heads, with strong leadership, delegation, organizational, and team management skills.

    • Hands-on proficiency with AI-powered tools and automation, particularly in financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analytical processes.

    • Strong knowledge of modern accounting systems, financial management platforms, and data-driven reporting tools.

    • Excellent financial modeling, analytical, and strategic decision-making skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into practical business recommendations.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with executives, employees, board members, investors, and lenders.

    • A direct, collaborative, and results-oriented leadership style, combined with sound judgment, adaptability, and strategic thinking.

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

    • Benefits:

      • Fully remote working arrangement within the United States.

      • Opportunity to join the executive leadership team of a growing, private equity-backed services business.

      • Direct partnership with the CEO and meaningful influence over company strategy and financial performance.

      • Significant ownership of financial planning, operational efficiency, workforce strategy, and acquisition initiatives.

      • Opportunity to lead established department heads across finance, human resources and recruiting, and acquisitions.

      • Exposure to private equity investors, board-level discussions, strategic transactions, and business growth initiatives.

      • Opportunity to leverage cutting-edge AI tools and automation to modernize financial operations and drive organizational efficiency.

      • High-impact leadership position with substantial autonomy and the opportunity to contribute directly to long-term enterprise value creation.
