About the Role

Join our innovative software engineering team and help shape the future of scientific technology by developing advanced software that powers cutting-edge scanning electron microscopes (SEM).

As a C# Software Engineer, you'll tackle complex technical challenges and work closely with a multidisciplinary team of software engineers, scientists, physicists, electronics engineers, systems engineers, and application specialists.

Your work will contribute to scientific and technological breakthroughs in areas such as semiconductor manufacturing, cancer research, environmental protection, and advanced materials.

You'll have the opportunity to take your solutions from development to real-world testing on sophisticated microscopes, while collaborating with experienced engineering teams in Brno and the USA.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and implement new software features using C#.
  • Write, test, and validate your code directly on real scanning electron microscopes.
  • Investigate, debug, and resolve issues within a complex, established codebase.
  • Solve challenging technical problems and develop innovative, practical solutions.
  • Collaborate with experienced software engineers in Brno and the USA, as well as specialists across engineering and scientific disciplines.
  • Continuously improve software quality, reliability, and performance.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in a commercial software development environment.
  • Strong proficiency in modern C# and WPF.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools for coding, code reviews, testing, and documentation, along with the ability to critically assess and validate AI-generated outputs.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture, API design, and communication between services.
  • Basic knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, including core services and application deployment concepts.
  • Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on experience with version control systems such as Git.
  • Ability to translate complex technical and scientific requirements into effective software solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to thrive in a cross-functional environment.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of C++ and/or Python.
  • Experience developing software for hardware control, instrumentation, or hardware-integrated systems.

What We Offer

  • Work-life balance: Flexible working hours, 25 days of vacation, and 5 sick days per year.
  • Financial benefits: Annual bonus, pension contribution, and preferential rates on life and health insurance.
  • Everyday perks: Discounted mobile plans for you and your family, a free MultiSport card, meal allowance, an on-site canteen, and fresh fruit or vegetables every day.
  • Modern workplace: Comfortable workspaces, relaxation zones, an on-site gym, outdoor sports facilities, and massages available in the building.
  • Great team culture: A friendly, collaborative environment with plenty of opportunities to connect through sports teams, company activities, and even our own rock band.
  • Space to innovate: Access to our Hackerspace, equipped with a VR headset, 3D printer, Arduino, LEGO Mindstorms, a recording studio for videos, music, and podcasts, and much more.
