Emerson’s Test & Measurement business, formerly NI (National Instruments), is seeking a Semiconductor Test Solutions Engineer to help customers accelerate innovation through advanced automated test and measurement solutions. In this customer-facing role, you will collaborate with customers, internal engineering teams, and alliance partners to design, integrate, validate, and deploy semiconductor test systems that support product characterization, validation, and manufacturing. This position offers the opportunity to work across a wide range of semiconductor technologies while leveraging software-connected, modular instrumentation platforms to solve complex testing challenges.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Collaborate with customers, Emerson Test & Measurement teams, and alliance partners to develop semiconductor test solutions that meet technical and business objectives.
- Gather customer requirements and translate them into technical specifications and Statements of Work (SOW).
- Develop project plans, lead technical reviews, and drive projects through successful completion.
- Design, integrate, and validate analog, digital, mixed-signal, and RF test systems based on device-under-test (DUT) requirements.
- Analyze system performance, measurement accuracy, reliability, throughput, and overall cost of test.
- Integrate NI PXI/PXIe-based modular instrumentation into complete turnkey test solutions.
- Support deployment, troubleshooting, commissioning, and optimization activities at customer sites.
- Partner with customers and manufacturing organizations to improve tester performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Deliver technical training, mentorship, and ongoing support to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Travel domestically and internationally, as required, to support customer and project needs.
Who You Are:
You build strong partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives. You communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, fostering understanding and alignment. You effectively balance planning with execution, ensuring priorities remain focused on achieving successful outcomes. You approach complex challenges with curiosity and sound judgment, using data and experience to identify practical solutions while continuously improving processes and results.
For This Role, You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience in system design, application engineering, semiconductor test engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience supporting semiconductor test and validation activities in one or more areas such as RFIC, mixed-signal IC, RF front-end modules, on-wafer test, IPD, ADC/DAC, PMIC, MEMS sensors, or LED devices.
- Experience developing test software and implementing automated test methods.
- Programming experience in one or more languages, including C, C++, C#, VB.NET, Java, or Python.
- Experience working with semiconductor automated test equipment (ATE) platforms such as Advantest V93000, Teradyne UltraFLEX/J750, Chroma PAX, or similar solutions.
- Hands-on experience using test instrumentation such as source measure units (SMUs), digitizers, oscilloscopes, digital pattern instruments, and RF test equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and customer engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
- Experience with NI PXI/PXIe-based solutions and NI software platforms such as LabVIEW and TestStand.
- Knowledge of RF, mixed-signal, and high-speed digital testing methodologies.
- Experience leading technical projects and coordinating activities across cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing, characterization, validation, and production test environments.
- Ability to train, coach, and mentor technical users and team members.
- Experience working directly with global customers in a consulting, applications, or solutions engineering capacity.
